THE FRACTURED HEIST

The short film examines the construction and collapse of a national ethos. The work moves from an encounter between an interviewer and an investigator in the Antiquities Theft Prevention Unit, to the behind-the-scenes of a film set, from there to a Conservation Center of an Archaeology Department, and finally into the world of social media.
The narrative sequence in the film disintegrates and is rebuilt, similar to the reconstruction of an ancient artifact or historical-archaeological narratives, which, during their formation, connect some fragments while other parts are missing, discarded, or omitted. The work exposes the hidden forces that drive the characters—an outdated model of masculinity, the search for love, war, censorship, or power dynamics between a director and actors—and in doing so, reminds us that behind every ethos stand people, with their weaknesses, motivations, and doubts.
